Popular Question: How Long Does Software Development Take?

How long does it take to develop a software?

Well, that depends on the project. If you are building a software for SpaceX then it’s going to take a long time. If you’re building a simple add-on to an existing system or infrastructure, it might only take a month or two.

Things to Know When Developing a Software

Longer projects are a more efficient use of time

Generally, we don’t like to take on projects that are under, you know, 40 or 80 hours because there’s a lot of skill involved. And as you can imagine, it’s difficult for people to get ramped up on a project and to only do that. To them, three or four days later finish on that project is really inefficient use of their time.

Software always needs ongoing maintenance

What’s more important to know is that software needs maintenance. You’re going to need to look after it. So, you need a partner, who will be happy, once the project is built, to always be keeping an eye on it and servicing the system, making sure that it’s security is up to date, and that it’s monitored and working efficiently, ongoing. And usually, they’ll charge you a monthly fee for that.

They give you reports and keep your system up to date. So that if and when you want to make improvements or changes, it’s ready to go. But above all, to ensure that it’s safe from hackers and trouble.
